As we are waiting for the dust to settle from the Obamacare roll out, we are laying our plans for our next step in organizing and educating the public to demand a better system.
In the meantime we are presenting information about the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) because we recognize that it might provide health care to the 16% of Americans currently without health insurance. In that spirit, here is information on the Bellingham League of Women Voters forum on the Affordable Care Act.

What do Whatcom families want from the Affordable Care Act: Will it deliver? Special guest speakers will address this and more at the League of Women Voters® of Bellingham/Whatcom County meeting at the Bellingham Public Library starting at 10 AM, Saturday Nov 16.
Speakers include:
Elya Moore - Deputy Director, Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement
Desmond Skubi - Executive Director, Interfaith Community Health Center
Bertha Safford - Family Physician, Family Care Network
Bill Gorman - Interim Director, Bellingham Chamber of Commerce
Along with a video of interviews with local "people on the street" about their healthcare needs, speakers will discuss both the need and impacts the Act has already had, and likely future impacts on patients, healthcare practitioners and businesses. The Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement has partnered with the League to produce this program.
Doors open at 9:30 AM and coffee and treats will be served.
