5. No--my husband opposes the one-man crews that BNSF is trying to pull off, in particular.

Totally unsafe. His union needs to vote "no" on that plan. Combine one-man crews with oil trains and unsound tanker cars, and you're looking at another catastrophe. That said, oil trains move every day and have been for some time--railroads aren't going to stop moving trains of oil, or coal, or what have you, and there are real, regular people who would be affected by the unlawful shutting down of rail operations (plus it's a federal crime, I believe). The way to deal with it is through Congress and the FRA, get them to pass the appropriate public safety laws.
