FREE MOVIE SCREENING AND PANEL DISCUSSION August 15, 2015, 10:30 a.m.
BELLEVUE, Washington - Sexual violence on college campuses it is an issue that is at the top of most parents minds when they send their student away every year. How can my child stay safe? What safeguards are in place? What is the administration doing to ensure my childs safety? It is estimated that more than 100,000 college students will be victims of a sexual assault during the upcoming school year, which is rapidly approaching. Its critical that students, parents, university leaders, and government come together, learn about this issue, and work together to end sexual violence on college campuses.
In cooperation with Legal Momentum, University of Washington, Momentum, Faculty Against Rape, Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs, King County Sexual Assault Resource Center, Essex Community Outreach Corporation, Legal Voice, King County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Sexual Violence Legal Services program of the YWCA Seattle|King|Snohomish, there will be a FREE screening of The Hunting Ground a documentary on the rape crisis on college campuses on Saturday, August 15th at 10:30 a.m. Weaving together footage and first-person testimonies, the film follows survivors as they pursue their education while fighting for justice. The screening will be followed by a robust discussion with a panel of experts on the issue of campus sexual violence.
