(51,907 posts)In the early years of Washington State's Three Strikes law, Paul Rivers and David Conyers, pictured above, were sentenced to Life Without the Possibility of Release for Robbery 2, an unarmed crime classified in the lowest quarter of Washington's criminal seriousness scale.
These crimes carry a standard minimum term of 3 months and a standard maximum term of 7 years. Neither Mr. Rivers nor Mr. Conyers has any conviction for a more serious crime. Each man has served more than 20 years.
Both have clemency hearings scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2015 in Olympia, Washington. Address/ Directions.
The members of Washington State's Clemency and Pardons Board who are present at the hearing will determine and announce during the hearing whether they recommend conditional clemency release for the two petitioners. Community members who are present in support are noted by the board.
Last year, members of this email list helped complete a successful fundraiser for David Conyers' first three months of rent in the community should he be released. His letter of thanks, information on how to contribute further to the fundraiser, and a link to a video including interviews with both men are HERE:
