These Four House Members from Washington State Just Voted for the Republican Tax Bill [View all]
Elections have consequences. Here in Washington State, the voters who've shown up in recent elections have given us a Congressional delegation with four Republicans (representing eastern and southern Washington) and six Democrats (representing western Washington).
Today in DC, those elected representatives all participated in a defining vote on a "smash-and-grab" tax bill that's being described the "wholesale looting" of America. The bill will enrich certain Republicans who serve in DC, including House Speaker Paul Ryan and President Donald Trump. It's "a giveaway to corporations and the wealthy that will end up hurting most families." And it will do a lot to increase income inequality.
The vote in the US House broke along party lines, with zero Democrats voting to pass. A few Republicans did join the Democrats in voting no, but none of those no-voting Republicans were from Washington State.
Instead, all four of our state's Republican representativesDave Reichert, Jaime Herrera Beutler, Dan Newhouse, and Cathy McMorris Rodgersvoted yes.
