West Virginia Senate passes resolution to adopt 'Charlie Kirk Day' [View all]

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — On Thursday the West Virginia State Senate adopted a resolution to make October 14 “Charlie Kirk Day.”

SR 22 passed with 33 voting yes and one absence. The resolution reads in part that Kirk’s birthday, October 14, “will serve as an annual reminder for West Virginians to reflect on the power of principled leadership, the defense of free expression, and the pursuit of a more united and virtuous society.”

Republican Senator Chris Rose of Monongalia County, who proposed the resolution, said he knew Kirk personally. The two met when Rose was the director of West Virginia’s Tea Party and Kirk was starting Turning Point USA.

Rose said that Kirk leaves a legacy in his Christian values and championing of civil debate.
