More recount volunteers needed in Waukesha County [View all]
Since the start of the recount two days ago, Waukesha County has barely accomplished anything. (In contrast, Milwaukee County counted about 50 wards on the first day. Let's hear it for Milwaukee!) Waukesha, however, has many people doing nothng for long stretches of time. The deadline is 10 days away, but one observer estimated that at the current pace it would take 33 days to complete the work on time, and that takes into consideration that they are working from 8am to midnight every day! (I assume they have several shifts.)
Why this is taking so long, and why they planned from the beginning to work 16-hour days, is troubling. More volunteers are needed to be on hand throughout the time to witness what is going on there. If you can possibly spare some time, contact one of the parties below to sign up. I think the late night shift is particularly important--who knows what may happen then? One thing to keep in mind--the Hillary volunteers are ordered not to raise any objections, just to note what they see and get vote totals. The Jill Stein volunteers are urged to make objections when necessary so there will be a record in case of further litigation.
If you go, be advised that you cannot take clipboards, folders, coats, or bags into the counting rooms, and you must show photo ID. Only red pens are allowed for writing. Dress warmly because the room is somewhat chilly unless many people are present.
