3. I wonder how an 18 year old man is able to afford an apartment anyhow.

It's difficult enough for someone with an education and experience to afford a place to live when they start out in the working world. Either the parents are picking up the tab or he is using some of the money that he raised in the GoFundMe campaign for his living expenses instead of his defense. Also, who would rent to this person knowing that he may have to abandon the apartment if found guilty.

He does need to be locked up until trial.
