We were in counties that were under 10,000 population, in Nebraska - there were 3,000 or so in the entire county.

We used to go to all the county and area fairs and "Days".

Always made sure to see all the crafts and entries, all the animal sheds assuming the kids enjoyed as much as I did. One summer when the oldest was six or seven, I heard her ask my wife, "Why does daddy like looking at cow butts?"

Then I realized how bad of a perspective they got between paddock rails.

We cut the dairy barn out pretty much after that.
