But even if his wife and children had been evacuated, King George would have stayed. It's a whole different set of circumstances. They alerted for bombings and the family could take shelter. It's hard to alert for someone carrying a virus.

Throughout history, monarchs have left London to avoid plagues, especially in the summer, because that's when most of the plague type illnesses would spread.
