2. Although I'll vote Blue no matter what I'm afraid that none of the candidates beat Trump

I was a Labor (UK) supporter in my teens and early 20's. I've lived through serious economic and civil disorder (I'm from Northern Ireland). I've experienced the hope and lamented the failures of socially progressive Labor leaders Michael Foot, Neil Kinnock and Jeremy Corbyn. Sanders is an honorable man, one who appears to have the interests of the entire population at the heart of his politics. While I believe Sander's proposals are absolutely and morally necessary this is not the time for Democratic Socialism. Regrettably though, the remaining Democratic candidates are, for a variety of reasons, electorally flawed. To be clear, I don't expect perfection in a candidate. Heaven knows Trump is the living embodiment of corruption and evil. But aside from the Blue Base of support that any candidate will win once nominated as the Dem candidate, I have significant misgivings that any of these candidates will be able to win the additional support needed to push them over the finish line.

Yes, I will play my part in this historic presidential race. But I'm girding myself for another four years Trump and will prepare to leave the US if/when that happens. Do I see myself returning in 2024. Not likely. Given the almost certain destruction of Democratic institutions with another Trump term the poison will remain for decades.
