check the joule rating on any unit you're looking at. The higher the number, the stronger the protection. The Belkin unit suggested by others is an excellent bargain... almost 4000 joules for $27.00 before shipping.

Most stores carry the Belkin brand, so you may want to shop locally, just keep the joule rating in mind, and use the $27.00 price point (plus shipping) as reference.

Also keep in mind that the recommended lifespan of a good, reliable surge protector is 3-5 years. Good Luck..!!
