Some phones out there that actually go by a certain amount of minutes, you buy them more or less as you need them I am not sure which ones they are...a little research on walmart or amazon probably help you decide.I seem to recall one that you bought something like 100 minutes and had a year to use them and then bought more if needed

Tracfone seems to have one that is 1500 mins for one year.. just check their web site
