When you recorded with your phone... how long did it stay on, stay shut off, turn on again, etc (i.e., do you have a timeline)? When it turned back on, did it do the normal startup thing as if you were turning it on from scratch?

When you left it plugged in last night, was the computer turned on or off?

One test I would try would be to run plugged in but with the battery removed. See if it stays running indefinitely when you do that. If it does, this may indicate that you have a defective battery (or less likely, a defective charger). If it remains intermittent, it's likely a problem with the internal power supply (not the plug-in brick).
