Problems with dell xps 1330 laptop battery. Battery show 4 lights, but when computer unplugged [View all]

from charger, computer shuts down after about 5 sec. Also, when plugged into charger the screen dims. May be a connection connection between the two problems. Biggest issue, of course, the laptop does not run on battery. We've had more problems with this battery issue. MY daughter said that this is her third battery in almost 4 years.

Any help on this issue? Buying a new battery from Dell is not cheap and may not even fix the problem. thanks
