5. Reboot everything

Shut off cable modem, or DSL modem, router and PC. Take the battery out of the cable or DSL modem. Wait a minute. Put battery back in. Restart modem waiting until it is fully back up. Plug router back in and wait til it fully boots up. Turn computer back on.

This generally works given your internet connection is good.

If that doesn't work, restart the PC tapping F8 as it restarts.

On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.

If it is caused by a corruption, this usually fixes it.
