4. How is the priner connected?

Is it connected locally (via USB cable or whatnot to the back of your computer?). If so, I would recomment uninstalling anything Lexmark on the PC, disconnecting the printer.... reboot, then install the driver (without the printer connected) and then wait until either the installer finishes or you are prompted to connect the printer.

If it's a network printer, Windows 7 typically downloads the Lexmark Universal driver from Windows Update, which should work as long as the PC in question is connected to the Internet when you try to connect to the printer. Best of luck!
