I'd find a Restore Point dated before you tried to uninstall Avira. This should return your computer to the state it was in before your problem began

Here's how to do it in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

Here's how to do it in Windows 7: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ht/system-restore-windows-7.htm

If you're using a different operating system, it's easy to find specific instructions via Google by just searching for "restore point" plus your OS.

If you then still think you need to uninstall Avira, don't do it manually, use the proper method, either from within Windows itself or using Avira's own uninstall routine.
