4. HP Pavillion has color coded ports for mouse and keyboard

next to one another. I have mouse on alternate USB port. I tried restarting several times. Could not get the keyboard to turn on. I have not tried to start with previous version or a reset of defaults. Unplugging and plugging back in the keyboard causes a temporary flicker of lights on keyboard.

If they are both USB (mouse and keyboard) you should be able to plug them into any USB port. PoliticAverse Aug 2013 #5
