(9,314 posts)First, let me say I have not agreed with every decision he has made. However, I did hear him warn us in his speech right after the 2008 election that we would not like everything he did, but regardless, he had gotten so much from us than he could give us. I took that to mean he was overwhelmed with the show of support the public had given him in his first election, and it saddened him to think there would be times he would disappoint his admiring base.
But inevitably, when we have a crisis situation and he gives a speech, I think back to the George W. Bush* days and what an embarrassment, even at times a disgrace that man was to the Office. President Obama has restored dignity to the Oval Office and has been a wonderful reflection on this Country and the population's choice of him to run the store.
I think perhaps when he finishes up this term, it will be difficult for anyone to step into his shoes and present the calm, cool deliberative posture to the office President Obama has shown. I do think he will go down as one of the greatest presidents of our time. It is simply a shame there are some Americans who cannot see past the color of his skin to the goodness of his heart. That is their loss.
