Yes, when I first found DU, I did not have a daughter. When was my first post?? I think I decided to look for a place like then here after seeing too many American went nuts because of 9-11.
Then, Earl actually has a off-meeting and my husband and I felt not 'cool' enough to meet them in person. However, during 8 years Bush period, coming to DU was really like a group therapy.
Things changed first through the primary season between Clinton and Obama. I had nothing against Obama and quite frankly Obama's policies are very similar to Clinton's. And, for the record, Obama's voting records were 1 point less liberal than Clinton's. ( BTW, Clinton's voting records coincide with Sanders about 93% of time. )
Those things did not matter. Obama supporters became so nasty. That's when I quit DU.
Thanks to DU, my membership records were not eliminated.
Well, I thought Obama supporter was so vindictive of Clinton. They were tame compared to Sander's supporter.
Earlier, I had a lot of respect for Sanders and his supporters. He was focusing on changing the political
paradigm in Democrats to the left. I welcomed it since I know Clinton is core belief is more left than she has to realize over the years.
It is always much easier to repeat ideals when you don't really try to make changes.
My husband and I have been Clinton supporters for two reasons, one they are most competent policy makers of post war world and two, they are the only ones who can out-maneuver Republicans.
I am not old enough to be a member of AARP though I am a working mother with a 13 year-old girl who has special needs. I survived a lot. I lost my mother last year but I got reconnected with my sisters in Japan.
I got a new hope that Hillary may win this time.
