Linda Thompson Hello from South Africa! Saturday was Nelson Mandela's birthday. Did you learn anything from your friendship with Mandela that you have / would like yo incorporate into your life or into your advice for others?
Thanks Hillary and wishing you all the best with your campaign.

Hillary Clinton Thanks, Linda, for this question. I've told many people that Nelson Mandela was the greatest person I've had the privilege of meeting, and he taught me a lot. One lesson was the power of overcoming bitterness, hatred, feelings of disappointment that, as he said, can keep you imprisoned even after you are let out, as he eventually was. I saw him honor three of his white jailers at a luncheon after he was inaugurated by saying he was proud to have everyone there, but especially three men who treated him like a human and showed him respect during the darkest days of his life. I try to remember that and hope others will also heed his advice. -H
