The stuff that led to this point is definitely political; up until then she was overwhelmed because she was barely getting by; she and her wife (who is trans btw) were on disability but they had that CUT, not to mention they couldn't afford to get Obamacare from the exchanges because they live in Texas and Perry blocked Medicaid expansion (they'd qualify for sure). Add the fact the shitty job situation and the need to pay for schooling and there you go.

To me, the right wing damn near killed my friend, and god knows how many other people haven't made it. That's the big picture I see politics in.
