Trump is being given basically the same odds as Sanders of becoming POTUS, l.e., 7% for Sanders and 6% for Trump http://www.predictwise.com/politics/2016president I would not base my support on a candidate on the hope that Trump will be the GOP nominee. The GOP donor class will get an establishment candidate which currently looks like it will be Rubio who will have the full backing of Adelson and the Koch brothers.
Second, even Trump will have support of one or more super pacs and will be able to outspend Sanders http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/corey-lewandowski-trump-pac-washington-post The GOP will support the nominee and that nominee will be able to outspend Sanders by a wide margin.
I would not place my support on a candidate based on the hope that a long shot GOP type will be the nominee. I think that Trump and every other GOP candidate will have a major finanical advantage over Sanders that would cause Sanders not to be viable. Trump has even longer odds than Sanders of being the nominee based on current prediction and betting market.
I like Sanders and according to the online quiz, Sanders is closer to my positions than Hillary Clinton. However, I live in the real world and I do not believe that Sanders is viable in a general election
