(42,862 posts)And not all of his supporters, just the obnoxious ones. I'll be so glad when the "feel the bern" hashtag is no longer in fashion.
What started out as being a semi-clever hashtag that showed unity and support for their candidate ended up being something that was used to taunt and poke and ridicule those who didn't support him. It went from being something positive to being something ugly.
For those people who claim that they'll never vote for Hillary, I take them at their word. I believe them, and it's pointless to waste any effort in trying to convince them otherwise.
It's my opinion that they only announce their non-voting intentions so that they can feel important, and so that they can get attention. They want to be lectured. They need to be validated.
They're feeling powerless and fearful, so they want to create the illusion that they have enough non-voting power to sway the election. I think they're trying to make Hillary supporters feel the same doubts and fears that they do. (It's pretty childish, really, but what can you do?)
In spite of their seemingly prolific numbers (here, anyway) I think that mentality is much less common in the real world. These are the clickety-clickety warriors that have congregated here. Out there, I suspect they're fairly dispersed and will be ineffective.
People tend to be more aggressive online and less so when having to deal with someone to face-to-face, so I think it's a safe bet that these aggressive Sanders supporters will discover that the ineffective (but annoying) tactics used here will be even less effective if they try to berate others outside the safety of their e-world.
