U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, elected to a full six-year term in Washington last November, has hit the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton.

Booker travels this month include a trip to South Carolina to represent Clinton before the South Carolina Senate Democratic Caucus in Charleston, and then before the African American Mayors Association Leadership Summit in Columbia.

Clinton is the front-runner in the Democratic race for president and is being challenged by U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley.

During her campaign, Clinton has called for overhauling the criminal justice system, including finding alternatives to prison for nonviolent offenders, a pet project a pet project of Booker's.
