will try to prevent Trump from gaining the nomination. If they can't, sane Republicans will be crawling over broken glass and trampling each other to vote for Hillary. The Republican establishment is already on record on this.

Now imagine Trump and Hillary together on the debate stage. To borrow from Spider Robinson, she'll go for the jugular, tear out the throat and pee on the remains.
