As a 35 y/o male Hillary supporter, you have no idea... [View all]

How toxic my social media world has become. Well, you've seen GD: P so you probably get the gist. But holy crap. I've been involved in politics since long before most of my peers, but I'm being called a traitor on a daily basis for not being all-in for Bernie. I actually like Bernie quite a bit, I'm just more of a pragmatist than an idealist, and know that Hillary is both better equipped to win the election and do the job. But my god, these people are frothing at the mouth. Yes, they are the same people that fell in love with Obama in '08 and then did nothing in 2010, and currently live in the anti-Hillary echo chamber of social media. All I try to tell them is hey, Bernie is cool, just remember the big picture and be prepared to vote for whoever the nominee is in November. Remember who the real enemies are.

It scares me that people don't realize how much is at stake in this election. I try to tell them, and they point to ridiculous polls that have Bernie beating the republican field, without realizing that these polls mean nothing because the republican hate machine has yet to turn their guns on Bernie. I try to be reasonable. I don't attack Bernie, I just point out the stakes, and I'm treated as if I'm no better than a republican because I'm not in the tank for the "real" democrat. Like, fuck off, I was busting my ass for Al Gore and John Kerry before you ever even bothered to register to vote.

Anyway, sorry. I swear I'm not a concern troll, I just felt like I needed to vent a little. I don't come to DU much, the '08 Obama vs Hillary wars kind of put me off, but this seems so much worse, at least among my generation. I hope they pull their heads out of their asses soon when it becomes clear that he is likely to lose.
