(135,425 posts)The attitude--intentionally, or NOT (and I am willing to concede the latter) -- smacked of the dismissiveness, the "hushing," the disregard that many women have endured and many men have witnessed. It doesn't just happen to women, either--it happens to anyone who doesn't fit the corporate white male paradigm--people of color and of varying ethnicities--anyone who is a "nail that sticks up" as the Japanese say. And we know about the nail that sticks up....it gets HAMMERED DOWN. And that is what appeared to be happening to anyone who watched that exchange--it was just not good.
More to the point, beyond the "hushing" stuff, was the fact that it took SO LITTLE to make Sanders "lose it." And that is what he did--he got I-fooking-RATE about a conversation that was spirited, but he acted like someone was calling his mama names. It calls into question his TEMPERAMENT for the job to which he is applying. And it also brings to mind reports that he is not a very nice person, one-on-one.
