In Syracuse, Hillary Clinton pledges to defend Upstate NY workers, make college 'debt free' [View all]
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- In a half-hour stump speech in Syracuse today, Hillary Clinton promised to fight for equal pay for women, make college more affordable and create working class jobs in Upstate New York.
Clinton, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president, spent the day campaigning in Syracuse, culminating with a public rally at the Regional Market. She also spoke at a small business roundtable and stopped at Varsity Pizza to pose for photos and sign basketballs.
In her remarks at the market, Clinton outlined a few details of her $10 billion plan to return manufacturing jobs to the United States. The plan includes incentivizing companies to keep manufacturing jobs in America and forcing companies that ship jobs overseas to return any federal money they received.
"Upstate New York has a storied history of manufacturing," Clinton said. "We now have a chance to recapture that."
