Confirmed: Hillary Clinton still the winner of Nevada. Cheating antics of Bernie fans have faiied [View all]

She won NEVADA after all

For all the antics and hi jinks and cheating last night on the part of Bernie Sanders supporters at last night’s Clark County Nevada nominating convention, which involved the police having to sort out squatters and at least on local official having apparently been fired on the spot for her involvement, the fireworks didn’t result in any real change in the delegate count in the state. Despite the shifts in county math, it’s now been confirmed that Hillary Clinton has still won the state of Nevada.

Here’s how the math has broken down. A large number of county delegates, who were designated to vote for Hillary Clinton based on the popular vote, were tricked into not showing up on the correct date so that they could be replaced by Bernie Sanders surrogates (the chairwoman accused of orchestrating this cheating subsequently had an epic meltdown on camera). This did allow these phony replacement “delegates” to cast votes for Sanders. However, even a large number of flipped delegates at the county level only translates to a very small number of flipped delegates at the state level.

Even if last night’s skullduggery isn’t overturned by the court system, as we expect it will, the most the Sanders cheaters managed to eke out was two state delegates. In the larger picture that has almost no mathematical impact on a national race where Clinton is ahead by hundreds of standard delegates, and she’s ahead by an even higher number when superdelegates are included. But more specifically to Nevada, the two delegates in question merely shifted the state from Clinton 20 – Sanders 15, to Clinton 18 – Sanders 17. In other words, Hillary Clinton has still won Nevada. But it’s not over.

Clark County was just one attempt on the part of Sanders and/or his surrogates to rig the delegate count against the will of the voters. Despite the severity of the legal consequences and professional consequences these convention cheaters are facing, this pattern of cheating will likely continue in other counties. But for now at least, Hillary Clinton has still won Nevada despite the apparent felonies committed in Clark County last night.
