not known for their support of Dem candidates in general and thus should be taken with MORE than a grain of salt, they are charging that Bernie "invited himself."

Bernie may have sown the wind to reap the whirlwind here. However this happened, it shows bad judgment in the middle of a political campaign, IMO.
