I said "might" infringe on political and civil rights. For instance, one of the fundamental civil rights in capitalist society is the right to own property, which translates into "private property" in the form of "private ownership of the means of production." A socialist system that prohibits private ownership of the means of production and instead, as has occurred with some large enterprises in Venezuela, implements state ownership of a business but with it being cooperatively managed by the workers, this would constitute a violation of civil rights of individuals who want to privately own a business. For its part, the state-owned but worker-managed business would constitute economic democracy, something that cannot occur under private ownership by an individual who hires wage laborers.
