There's little difference between handing out campaign stuff and being politically active in that campaign. When it's what gets you killed.

The parents simply clarified that their son wasn't politically active in the campaign, they didn't dispute that he was helping them that day.

But your glee in the misrepresention of the events just underscores the morbidity of it all.
