INN: Venezuela to eradicate hunger by 2015

29/05/13.- ....

She explained that the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO in English) set 2015 as the year the world should halve the existing 1990 indicators on dietary deficiencies.

In the case of Venezuela, the director of INN mentioned that in 1990 their rate was 11% and by 2010 they had decreased it to 2%. "This means that long before 2015 the Bolivarian Revolution, (Venezuela) as a country, advanced the process of eradicating hunger in Venezuela".

During her appearance on the Dando y Dando show, broadcast by Venezolana de Television, Di Luca said that in 1990 there were approximately five million hungry people in Venezuela as a result "of the brutal implementation of neoliberal policies which 'starved' the Venezuelan people."

For his part, Deputy to the National Assembly, José Ureña explained that in 1998 the rate of food consumption was 310 kg per person per year and that now it currently stands at 520 kilograms per person annually.
