LET ASSANGE SUNBATHE: ECUADOR MINISTER [View all]

Ecuador will lobby for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to be allowed to sunbathe because it is a "fundamental right".

Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino will visit Assange on Sunday at the Ecuadorean embassy in London where he's been holed up for almost a year.

The following day Mr Patino will meet with his British counterpart William Hague to discuss the Australian's plight.

"I will be asking the British government to allow Mr Assange to sunbathe and enjoy the warm weather and sunshine because, unfortunately, at this moment in time he hasn't been able to do so for a year," Ecuador's foreign minister told UK newspaper the Evening Standard on Tuesday.

I didn't know that modern-day Britain could be so cruel and callous by grossly violating Julian's fundamental human right to sunbathe. Of course, Patino could always buy him a sunlamp.

I think he must really be driving the embassy staff crazy.
