Nicolás Maduro is eager for world attention, but has run into unexpected threats of plots against him.

Maduro is thirsty of publicity and protagonism, perhaps to blurr his past as a bus driver in Caracas. He wastes no opportunity to have himself present for media coverage.

Maduro keeps making up stories of enemies hatching plans to assassinate him. evidently seeking media coverage to enhance hs presence. He is a child of a poor family, and is evidently uncomfortable with his status, hence his forced presence in the media.
