8. The oil was nationalized back in the 70s

And the US still keeps receiving Venezuelan oil without problems. In fact, the US is Venezuela's #1 client. if Chavisno hates the U.S. so much, the first thing they'd do is stop selling them oil. I think it's also worth mentioning that a lot of food products and goods that Venezuela imports come from the U.S., at least a third of them.
