but at the time Colombia was, relatively speaking, a real beacon of democracy and rights in a continent almost completely given in to fascist dictatorships.

It's worth remembering that one of South America's most eloquent critics of the Argentine Dirty War, was Colombian President Alfonso López Michelsen. How times have changed.

Yes, that IS hard to believe, based on what has happened since I started finding out about Colombia, Judi Lynn Apr 2015 #4
