Retired US Military Demands Closer Ties with Cuba [View all]

Washington, Apr 20 (Prensa Latina) More than a dozen retired U.S. military members urged today President Donald Trump''s National Security Adviser, H.R. McMaster, to continue on the path towards normalizing relations with Cuba.

In a letter addressed to McMaster, several generals, admirals, brigadiers and rear admirals, among other officers, express their belief that ties with the island will help strengthen national security interests and stability in the region.

As part of the initiative, put forth by the U.S. Security Project, the signing officers call on the White House to give priority to U.S. national security through relations between the two countries.

Cuba's location in the Caribbean and the proximity to our nation, make it a natural and strategically valuable partner in matters of immediate concern, they underline.
