2. Makes you wonder, for sure. Tried to find more about it in English, their lips are sealed, as usual.

There's so much which happens throughout the Americas with US direct or covert involvement which never gets acknowledged by US corporate media, unless years pass and some journalist or organization requests declassified records under the Freedom of Information act and the government decides it will share.

Much of what we have learned happened years after the events.

I have seen in articles which ARE printed in English, that there's a lot of protest going on in Honduras, right now. Teachers are protesting the fact the government is trying to privatize education, something that happens every time a hard right administration gets slammed into place with US support.

From the BBC, a week ago:

Honduras protests: Buildings burn during clashes over reforms
30 April 2019

Riot police and protesters have clashed in the Honduran capital, Tegucigalpa, during protests against planned reforms of the health and education sector.

Hundreds of people had to be evacuated from a number of buildings in the city after they were set alight.

The protesters fear that the reforms could lead to mass lay-offs of teachers and doctors.

They have been on strike since Congress approved the reforms. Demonstrations were also held outside the capital.

Also from the same article:

What's the political background?
Backers of the reform say the opposition Libre party is stoking opposition to the law for political purposes. The bills have the backing of conservative President Juan Orlando Hernández.

During the protests, many of the demonstrators also demanded the resignation of President Hernández, who won a second term in 2017 in a disputed election in which his party was accused of fraud.

I just remembered a DU friend who left mentioned to me a couple of days ago that they also are trying to shut hospitals which poor people have been depending on. I do recall that in the coup in 2009, there was a hospital run by a Jesuit priest, a doctor, specifically for the poor who could get no medical help at all until he built it. As soon as the right-wing coup seized control, they shut it down. These things are life and death matters to the huge poor sector in Honduras.

Glad to see your post, and be reminded me to look for information now, since this has been in the back of my mind, without more info, which I needed.

I might add that Honduras was used as a property they nicknamed "Battleship USA" during the "covert" war run on Nicaragua by Ronald Reagan, by funding, and training, and furnishing materials to right-wing soldiers to overthrow the elected Nicaraguan President during Reagan's Presidency. They used Honduras to organize attacks, and hide soldiers, weapons, etc. to wage war against Nicaragua, and a lot of missions. Reagan also was laying waste to the indigenous population in El Salvador, as well, and Guatemala, governed by Reagan's dictator friend, Efrain Rios-Montt. It was a very brutal time for Central America, and US citizens had NO idea what the hell was happening. Reagan explained it all as a threat to the US, claiming that if one of the countries fell to communists (WTF?) there would be a "Domino Theory" result with that one country leading the other countries to become commie nations, too. Like Zombies.

I think we know who the zombies are. Critters who love killing, just for the hell of it, and making war, just to get stupid people whipped up, and to keep getting elected, pretending they are the only ones who can save us from scary "enemies."

Sorry. Sometimes it gets a little hard to take when you know what they're all about.

Looks as if Honduras is going through some real upheaval, and the US in involved, again. By the way, Israel has been involved for decades, occassionally sending advisers, military trainers, and all kinds of military weaponry to any of these countries with hard right leaders who are fighting against leftists, in both Central, and South Americas. That kind of information doesn't usually get shared by US corporate media.
