I have been totally interested in the Americas south of the US border every day since Elian Gonzalez arrived in South Florida, after his mother took him away from Cuba and his father around 1999. Started reading on US/Latin American history and completely transformed my understanding. I realized more and more as I researched that I had been totally misinformed ALL my life.
Shocked, infuriated, I realized I would never be able to go back to the darkness where I had lived since childhood, and I would not consider it. It's amazing to have found out in time to keep myself from dying dumb as a rock!
It couldn't be more important to me, now!
