Ten years ago It was totally filthy with waste covering the beaches and even the trees from people just tossing waste. There was no centralized waste control or garbage pick up, it was totally disgusting. Didn't go to Honduras itself, but if this is the way they treat that island, I wouldn't expect anything better on the mainland.
