A WEALTHY British family will apologise to the people of Grenada for their familys past role in slavery on the Caribbean island.
The aristocratic Trevelyan family said they would publicly apologise and also pay reparations.
The family owned six sugar plantations and owned more than 1,000 enslaved Africans in the Caribbean country.
Laura Trevelyan, who is a BBC reporter and family member, visited Grenada in 2022 to make a documentary.
She discovered her ancestors were compensated when slavery was abolished and also learned that the freed enslaved Africans received nothing.
