And he was the quintessential Southerner...William Cuthbert Faulkner, also known as Will Faulkner, was an American writer and Nobel Prize laureate from Oxford, Mississippi. I regret that due to my Yankee upbringing and recent immigrant status (family in USA only about 100 years), I have never been able to read anything written by a true Southerner...the only possible exception being Gone With the Wind, and that was after hating it in junior high. You really need to live through a bad marriage to understand Scarlett.
