"If your group is dedicated to a non-controversial topic,
then there is probably no harm in assigning someone as a Host.
You are unlikely to need someone to lock threads or block people out of the group,
but it might be useful to have someone who can take ownership of the group."

One of the "ownership" roles of a host is to pin topics if needed.
I doubt that this forum would require blocking anyone, it has not been my experience in the past that has been needed.

As I said in my earlier post, regular members of this forum can decide "if and when" a host is needed.
