37. ADP Says U.S. Added 216,000 Jobs in February

Companies added 216,000 workers to their payrolls in February, according to data today from Roseland, New Jersey-based ADP Employer Services.

The median projection of economists surveyed by Bloomberg News called for an advance of 215,000. Projections of the 44 economists ranged from gains of 120,000 to 270,000.

ADP’s initial figures for January showed a 170,000 rise, while the Labor Department’s data two days later showed an increase of 257,000 in private payrolls.
