"They can't punish without the data" (Opt out of high stakes testing) [View all]

We live in (Oregon) and my son attends a charter school.... His teacher is telling me I cannot opt him out of state testing...I did not take my son to do the state testing last week. I have not heard a word about it since. Do you think they let us off the hook that easy?? I would be shocked if its as easy as saying no, I will not allow my child to take your tests. If so, why isnt everyone doing it???

Good for you Kelly! It actually can be that easy in many states. Everyone isnt doing it because theyve bought the story that they cant and/or they actually believe that standardized testing is a useful assessment tool (thanks to mainstream media brainwashing).
Where I live, Colorado, opt out is easy, but parents are often bullied. If everyone refused to take the test, everywhere it would be that easy the truth is they (corp. ed reformers) know that without the data their hands are tied. They cannot punish students, parents, teachers, schools and communities without the data.
Unfortunately, parents are bullied and scare tactics are used to make them believe they are required to take the test. They cannot require a child to take a test if the parent chooses to opt out. Period.
