1. This could also help safety of vehicles around these trucks.

First it should reduce the turbulence directly behind one of these truck at freeway speeds. My little SUV really can feel the buffeting if I get too close to a semi, or when one passes me.

The other thing is this should reduce the Spray cloud the truck produces when driving in wet conditions. I was on the freeway in a heavy rain recently and the spray cloud kicked up around these trucks was like trying to drive through a fog bank.

The smoother airflow around these truck should help with both issues.
