2. I don't recall who first said it, but intelligence truly is a lethal mutation.

Life may be rare in the universe, but intelligent life is certainly much rarer. And rarest of all, if, in fact, it's even possible, would be intelligent life that survives long enough to escape its home planet. It's no mystery to me why we have yet to find any evidence of life elsewhere in the universe.
